Dr. A. R. Ponniah M.A., B.L., Ph.D., an eminent educationalist, philanthropist and visionary is the founder of this institution, Pasumpon Muthuramalinga Thevar College, Meleneelithanallur (Affiliated to Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, Tirunelveli) in the year 1970. It is located in a lovely, pleasant, serene area which is of 12 km south of Sankarankoil, on the Tirunelveli main route. A innumerable number of students have been benefited by perusing their goals of higher education at the post graduate level, this institution is endowed with research activities as well as coeducation as per the approval of UGC Act (2f section). It has been successfully educating students for years together from rural background. A great massive change has been found among rural folk of this area who utilized this opportunity rendered by this college.

Recently Government of Tamil Nadu has appointed Dr. R. Baskaran, Joint Director of Collegiate Education, Tirunelveli Region, Tirunelveli as special officer to execute the academic activities of our College.
